Anyone who is anyone in the publishing world has either interacted with someone participating in the Dorchester Boycott, or has at least read about the viral issue somewhere in recent weeks. The boycott was started by author Brian Keene (The Last Zombie, Clickers II, Urban Gothic), a former author for Dorchester Publishing's Leisure imprint, in response to lack of royalty payments and/or statements over the past year, as well as Dorchester's decision to continue selling novels written by authors who took the gamble of buying rights and licenses to their novels back once Dorchester announced its bankruptcy last year. Dorchester has continued to deny alligations of illegally selling books to which they no longer own rights, even though it is clear they, to this day, are continuing to do so.
Keene has assembled a group of dozens of authors as well as thousands of readers to participate in boycotting Dorchester because of their illegal activities, which I wouldn't be as lenient to call theft, but all out plagiary instead. For more information on the boycott of Dorchester Publishing, please visit the following links, or stay up do date with the father of the movement at his official website here.
